GZA - Pro Tools

The GZA released a new record last week. The song, Life is a Movie, that got circulated via the interweb (and streaming above) is so nasty.

Posted about Danilo Parra a little over a year ago. He has done some big things since. Check the Love Bryan site for more.

Fundamental Physics

Wired brings us the sad story of the closing of the Bell Labs fundamental physics research department. Shitty.

Wai Lin Tse

Don't know much about photographer Wai Lin Tse. The site is constructed very well. The Style Press says Lin Tse is Barcelona Based.

Elliot Erwitt

Elliot Erwitt is a renowned French Photographer. All in Black and White. Good contrast in subject matter. He was born in 1928.

Better Without Burners

Burning Man did officially start yesterday. The creator of this site may 1) be onto something or 2) be a bitter asshole with no life. Hmm.

Life is not Free

Howdy. Sorry for the lack of posts. Been busy working on some stupid and not-so-stupid projects. Anyways, Valleywag says Google is cutting back on the Freebies. In related news I just restrung my mini-violin.

Emily

Go here for more.

Dear Science

TV on the Radio is streaming the first single from their upcoming album here. The only reason I mention it is that I am deciding whether or not to see Radiohead tomorrow. The correlation is stupid, I promise.

Guy Denning

Ran across the work of UK artist Guy Denning while looking at the Red Propeller Gallery website via a Design is Kinky link. Dope stuff. His blog is here.

Catherine Ledner

Saw this photo project by Catherine Ledner earlier this morning. Animal Portraits in from of Decorative Wallpaper. So excellent.

Picaresque

The Brilliance linked this Teaser Clip to the new longboarding movie Picaresque. Looks really well shot. Dustin Miller looks to be the director of sorts.

The Solution

to all of my problems, sue the Vatican for $150k citing some thievery that happened 7 centuries ago. They would just hand me the money considering these guys are trying to get 1,000,000 times that.

Hella LA

Go see the Hella More Funner show in LA if you live down in the sorrier part of California. It opened last night (tonight, whatever) . I am an asshole for not posting it earlier. What up Sam. Good shit homie.

Usain Bolt

Michael Phelps is cool and all but do what you need to do (download Silverlight, ugh.) to see the 100m race that Usain Bolt destroyed. Also note how stoked the silver and bronze medalists were.

William Lawson

Brooklyn artist William Lawson takes photographs and does some great public art. The Intervention Series is super good. via Make and Wooster Collective.

Polaroid PoGo

Polaroid's PoGo Pocket Printer (10 times fast) uses heat and crystals to infuse color into some special paper or something like that. Seems like an alright idea. Popular Science says this.

Beijing Repurposed

In hopes of answering a few questions for the homies: China spent $42 billion on the infrastructure. Michael Phelps does indeed listen to Lil' Wayne (I knew it), and a KC architect is in charge of repurposing.

The Daily Figure

The Daily Figure is a Blogger page created by illustrator Kyle T. Webster. Great stuff. Clean stuff. Overall very well executed. via BOOOOOOOM via QBN.

Justin Wood

Illustrator Justin Wood does excellent work. It looks to be all digital in nature. His cell number has a 323 Area Code, which is Los Angeles. via Design is Kinky.

French illustrator Samuel Bismes does great work through his 5am Studio. via all of the UK Design Blogs pretty much.

It's Still Interesting

I feel I need to make a quick addendum to the Weev post. Yes the guy is an Anti-Semite and that is dumb, and sorry if you got Goatsed while trying to read the comments on one of his latest LJ posts.

Popcorn Sutton

Haven't posted in over a week and I wonder why no one checks my site...continuing with the shitty content of The Breadboard I present The Appalachian Traveller How To Section with ol' Popcorn.

Weev

The Weev guy is a dick for sure but I thoroughly enjoyed this NYT mag article. Weev's Livejournal can be found here. Corrupt.org is pretty interesting as well.

3 specific things that struck me:
1. Weev bounces in a chauffeured Rolls Phantom (page 5)
2. His favorite Trolls were Zeno of Elea, Socrates and Jesus (page 5)
3. He is wearing a Jeremy Fish T-Shirt in the banner pic (page 1).

Shawn Barber at Billy Shire

Check the Billy Shire site for images of the Shawn Barber show that opened a bit ago. The portrait of Kat Von D sold for a cool $40k. This one is my favorite.

Hillman Curtis

I forgot to post this awhile back. Hillman Curtis updated his website. One of the commercials featured on the site has a familiar Engineer turned Designer storyline.

Henry Darger

I was looking for some stock photos last night and stumbled upon the work of Henry Darger. I guess the guy is super famous in the world of outsider art and really ingrained in pop culture. Never heard of him.

Amanda Wachob

Amanda Wachob is a painter who I assume lives in New York. I found her work via a great looking Blogger page called Aesthetic Outburst; which is run by my roommate Tim's, friend Tristan's, friend. Got that?

Jimmy Justice

The guy to the left calls himself Jimmy Justice. He walks around New York looking for cops breaking the laws that they themselves enforce. He made the Washington Post yesterday and Network TV a year ago.

The GOOD Guide to Shadowy Organizations

Good Magazine has a nice feature on six of the secret organizations that behind locked doors give the thumbs up to such things as 9-11 and the trading of Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers.
